13 years. That’s how long this unique group of fishing enthusiasts have gathered in the early October chill to celebrate fellow enthusiast, friend, partner, and icon, Joe Johnson. Supported by Joe’s widow, Patricia, their children, grandchildren, and growing family, this event assembles each Autumn to celebrate one of Joe Johnson’s many passions and memorialize the positive impact his life made on multiple communities throughout the region. That impact continues! The Joe Johnson Memorial Bass Tournament was lovingly initiated by Joe’s close friend and fishing partner, Al Denny. With the Johnson family blessing, the first Joe Johnson Memorial Bass Tournament was held four months after Joe’s passing in 2011.
More than just a memorial event, Joe’s positive lifelong impact continues through it’s charitable element. This year marks the 6th consecutive year the Joe Johnson Memorial Bass Tournament has raised monetary funds for the Tyler DeMarco Foundation. Despite the significantly lower turnout due to difficult weather, the tournament was still able to raise $3600.00 in our Fight against Childhood Cancer.
These die-hard anglers spent nearly 12 consecutive hours in cold torrential rain and wind to procure their winning catch. Camaraderie & positive impact. That’s how Joe Johnson lived, and that’s how his legacy continues.
Our many thanks to all-of-you for your thoughtful, generous, and continued support!
