It’s the 13th Christmas we’ve been without our amazing Tyler and time hasn’t healed a damn thing. With each passing year the hole of emptiness is made deeper and darker by reeling memories. It’s a battle of the mind that is both haunting and unforgiving.
This week, as in the last 12 years, we once again stumbled upon a gift left on Tyler’s Tree of Hope. Always anonymous, without attention or fanfare, and now for the 13th year we find ourselves profoundly touched by these acts of sincere love and friendship that refuse to be severed by death.
Another unique ornament was quietly placed upon Tyler’s Tree delivering the unspoken message of love, loss, and anguish, for a friendship intended to endure many more years than it was given; a best friend honoring his bestie and keeping him alive, in memory. Similar gifts of remembrance are also left at Tyler’s grave throughout the year. Words are never spoken, just meaningful remembrances thoughtfully, carefully, and quietly placed, but they speak louder, clearer, and truer, than any spoken word.
Thank you for honoring, remembering, never forgetting, and loving.
